In the midst of what happened in the afternoon of April 5th, 2023, when the Mayan Warrior car tragically caught on fire. We have decided it is the best time to revisit and reflect on the history and legacy of this titan in the Tulum Party Scene.

One of the most popular events on the planet is the Burning Man Project, celebrated since 1986 at the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada. Today, The Burning Man Project creators have more than 75 electronic projects in 13 different nations.

It was in 2011 when the organizers decided to include an art car in the celebration of The Burning Man, decorated with popular Mexican art. Its appearance was so consequential that the organizers decided to create an exclusive project with the art car as a starting point for the whole aesthetic now known as Mayan Warrior.

As we have mentioned before, the Mayan Warrior Festival began in 2011 as a small gathering of friends and artists. Since then, the festival has grown significantly with thousands of people now attending each year. The organizers have remained committed to their original vision, and the festival has maintained its intimate, community-focused vibe despite its popularity.

Mayan Warrior is a collaborative gathering uniting artists, musicians, technologists, and creatives worldwide to represent the primal connection on how the Mexican electronic scene has developed. They have a special emphasis on the incorporation of art installations as part of the festival, where many of these art projects are interactive and encourage attendees to participate and engage with the artwork itself.

On April 5th, 2023, the Mayan Warrior car caught on fire en route to Punta de Mita. This is a tragic event in the community of party-goers, artists, and collaborators in Tulum and the whole Riviera Maya. In the following months, some campaigns on GoFundMe and some other similar platforms, have been surfacing intending to raise funds to rebuild the Mayan Warrior Art Car.

With the loss of the Mayan Warrior Art Car, a chapter comes to an end, and a hopeful new beginning surface ready to be explored!

Several months after the accident, this past January, The Mayan Warrior in Tulum 2024 took place. We were simply not disappointed, and also were assured once again by the sheer magnitude of the series of events coming from the Mayan Warrior Brand and Family, because the rendition of 2024's Mayan Warrior in Tulum was surely one of the signature events of the 2024 Tulum High-Season, and easily classifies to the top league of concerts and events in Tulum's history overall.
