Alan Fitzpatrick
British Dj. Headliner at Berghain and a hit on daytime BBC Radio 1
Alan Fitzpatrick: prominent British DJ and producer, renowned for his powerful and commanding big-room techno style.
With a distinctive sound: steady, resonant beats paired with melodic tones inspired by the vigor of early rave music he stood out from the stark, monochromatic Berlin style prevalent at the time, and was immediately embraced by techno enthusiasts.
His energized DJ sets at countless clubs and festivals, coupled with regular appearances in Ibiza, Fabric, and Tresor, have made him a favorite among global clubbers.
Much sought-after as a remixer for artists like Róisín Murphy and Leftfield, Fitzpatrick's acclaim extended to his DJ performances.
Born in Southampton, England, Fitzpatrick's early exposure to music came through his father's love for Motown, which led to his interest in '80s pop music and ultimately the dance music culture via the rave and acid house scene. A dedicated club-goer, Fitzpatrick was drawn to techno and began learning to create his own tracks. He spent the early 2000s honing his DJ and production skills before launching his professional career in 2008 with his debut single "Nine Hours Later" on his own label, Eight-Sided Dice.
His big breakthrough came in 2009 with the release of "Weed Killer" on Len Faki's Figure label, "Reflections" on John Digweed's Bedrock, and "Static" on Adam Beyer's Drumcode.
Fitzpatrick continued to produce a plethora of singles on respected labels, primarily Drumcode, which also released his debut artist album, Shadows in the Dark, in 2010.
In 2016, he launched the label We Are the Brave with the anthemic "We Do What We Want," and released his first mix album, Fabric 87. More recently, in 2020, he experimented with more abstract material under the pseudonym 3Strange. His first full-length album in over a decade, Machine Therapy, was released by Anjunadeep in 2021. The album explores a variety of styles, including breaks, house, and ambient, and features collaborations with artists like Kele, High Contrast, Lawrence Hart, and more.
