Mayan Warrior
Born from a collaboration between Mexican and Californian artists, photographers, designers, technologists, musicians, and dreamers, Mayan Warrior set out to showcase the spirited world of contemporary Mexican electronic music while honoring its deep ancestral roots.
Light and sound, meticulously curated by world-renowned artists, transport you back to the very beginnings of this rich Mayan culture, all while offering a fresh perspective on modern electronic expression.
Celebrated since 1986 at the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada. Today, The Burning Man Project creators have more than 75 electronic projects in 13 different nations.
The story of Mayan Warrior began in 2011, with a small gathering of friends and a shared passion. Inspired by the iconic Burning Man Project, Mayan Warrior took the form of an art car adorned with vibrant Mexican art, a symbol of the special combination of tradition and innovation that fuels Mexican electronic music.
One of the festival's most distinctive features is its emphasis on interactive art installations which invite participation and spark conversation. Their motto, "Inner Wisdom. Strength. People. Music." perfectly captures the vision of the collaborative minds behind Mayan Warrior.
Over the years, the Mayan Warrior festival exploded in popularity, attracting thousands of revelers from around the world. Mayan Warrior's special events at Tulum have become a highly expected yearly tradition, and they never disappoint. 🚀
With its growth, the organizers remained true to their original vision. Mayan Warrior isn't just about the music; it's about community. It's a space where artists, musicians, technologists, and creatives come together to celebrate their shared passion.
The tragic fire in April 2023 in their art car marked a turning point. But as the Mayan Warrior spirit burns bright, so does the desire to rebuild.
In 2024 Tulum witnessed the triumphant return of Mayan Warrior. The 2024 edition cemented its place as a signature event in Tulum's history fueled by a renewed purpose: the creation of a brand-new art car,
Mayan Warrior 2025 was a landmark event. The art car was revived and this year the brand new Galaxyer Art Car debuted in Tulum. Mayan Warrior loves the region, and Tulum loves Mayan Warrior. It has been an annual happening for a decade, and this year that Tehmplo took the mantle of hosting it, the festival saw a new ambiance.
This year Mayan Warrior took place during the party season New Year's Eve Tulum, with names such as Mano Le Tough, Amémé, Salomé Le Chat, OMRL, Tiago Oudman, and Kinahau.
The power of music, the beauty of art, and the deep connection that binds us all await.
