About

Considered by many as the true regenerators of 21st century house music, Âme is a German duo composed of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer, the latter owners of Plattentasche, one of the most famous record stores in Karlsruhe.

Their sound is influenced by production giants like Stevie Wonder, the WestEnd Rec. and Transmat labels, and they declare themselves admirers of the great Herbie Hancock.

Âme can be described as a cross between Detroit sound, Parisian house, Berlin's underground dub, and the disco regeneration of a Metro Area in form. If you don't believe it, listen to their admirable self-titled album, Âme (2004), which they released on Sonar Kollektiv. They've put their unique deep house spin on producers like Trüby Trio, Simone Serritella, Jazzanova, Nigel Hayes, and Random Factor, delivering successful remixes.

Their latest sensation is titled Rej EP and as always, it's published on Sonar Kollektiv's branch, Innervisions. The track became a massive hit between 2005 and 2006 and consequently the best-selling record of the German label managed by Dixon. Along with Dixon and Henrik Schwarz, they reached many DJs' turntables with the re-edit of the track Where We At EP (Innervisions) on the original from Chicago's master, Derrick Carter. This was also cataloged as the best EP of 2006 by some of the most respected publications in club music.

After this success, Âme took a break from production and toured the world, as they suddenly became highly sought-after  on high-profile dancefloors like Space or El Divino in Ibiza.

Âme's role as selectors has also been highly praised thanks to gems like the mix CD Âme... moreover, they also took their turn in the Fabric series, taking care of #42, released in 2008. In 2009, they published The Grandfather Paradox with Dixon and Schwarz on BBE, a tour of fifty years of minimalist currents that have influenced the music of our time.
