Sainte Vie

Founder of Akumandra Label, DJ, producer and sound engineer born in Mexico, now based in New York City. He first got introduced to electronic music during his teenage years while living in France. Initially engrossed in Rock ‘n Roll music as part of his band 'Polar' in Mexico City, he transitioned into electronic music after relocating to a strict boarding school in Becon-Les-Granits. He utilized a music software called Fruit Loop studio, immersing himself in the world of virtual synths and drum machines and becoming inspired by the numerous possibilities it presented. This was the period where he came across Nicolas Jaar’s music, an influence that significantly inspired his approach to electronic music.

    His musical creations are hard to define, originating from ideas, melodies, tempos, feelings, and specific instruments that resonate with him. His EP "From Desolate Places and Forgotten Times" exemplifies this approach, with arpeggios that encapsulate the energy of his live sets and his emotions during that time.

In terms of cultural influence, Sainte Vie’s music embraces multiple cultural colors, although certain compositions, like his track "Alhua", incorporate distinctive Mexican sounds and instruments. His exploration into non-western musical traditions began during the early days of Akumandra, his music label. He got inspired by diverse artists who incorporated fascinating instruments in their tracks. This ignited his curiosity to explore Middle Eastern and Oriental instruments, subsequently incorporating these sounds into his music.

Sainte Vie is particular about creating his music, preferring to play everything himself and record his own samples and sounds rather than relying on existing ones. 

His label Akumandra, which has been operational for almost 5 years, has a strong emphasis on promoting and supporting emerging artists from all around the globe.
