Solomun

Mladen Solomun, widely recognized by his stage name "Solomun" is a renowned Bosnian-German DJ: four-time winner at the DJ Awards for categories such as Best Producer, Best DJ, and Best Melodic House DJ. 

Born on December 27, 1975, in Travnik, Yugoslavia, Solomun moved to Hamburg, Germany, in his early years. His journey to music is one marked by exploration and curiosity, starting from a young age when he developed a love for filmmaking and later evolved into a passion for music after exposure to diverse styles through nightclub tapes.

Solomun’s musical roots are deeply entrenched in hip-hop, soul, funk, and R&B, making his sound a distinct blend of house music with deep, funky basslines, euphoric melodies, and emotionally charged vocals.

Before stepping into music production at the age of 23, Solomun spent a year learning from a friend who ran a hip-hop label. His love for music turned professional in 2005, when he founded the record label Diynamic alongside his partner Adriano Trolio. Their motto, "Do It Yourself," embodies their entrepreneurial spirit. The label’s momentum skyrocketed in 2006 after the addition of H.O.S.H. to their team. Solomun’s first EP under Diynamic, aptly titled Solomun EP, was released the same year. This milestone was followed by numerous EPs, compilations. In 2010, Solomun further expanded his musical footprint by launching a second, more experimental label, 2DIY4.

Solomun’s work reached a critical crescendo in 2011 when his remix of Noir & Haze's "Around" earned him the title of Remix of the Year by Resident Advisor. His star continued to rise in 2012 when he was named Mixmag's "DJ of the Year," further garnering awards such as Producer of the Year by the DJ Awards in Ibiza, and Best International DJ by the Cool Awards in Brazil. He has held residencies in Ibiza's renowned nightclubs Pacha and Destino, while also touring across North America and playing at major events like the Ultra Europe, Exit Festival, and Tomorrowland.

Beyond music, Solomun’s influence also permeates the realm of video gaming. In 2018, he appeared as an in-residence DJ for Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the After Hours DLC. His music video for "Customer is King" was even created entirely within Grand Theft Auto V's in-game engine, marking a unique collaboration with Rockstar Games.
